Ikigai, or finding your purpose.

Saturday we took our kiddos to the Science Center for The Great Outdoors Expo. It's always fun, but there was a particularly awesome moment this time when Mark, a paleontologist, helped our 6- and 3-year olds with the construction of a Dromaeosaurus skeleton. He managed to teach all of us something new, get the two of them excited to work together on a task (!), and create a memorable experience for all of us. He wrapped it with a lovely moment of recognition at the end for them, and a cute photo op for Mom & Dad.

It got me thinking about the value of honing our crafts, and the Japanese concept of "ikigai" - finding your purpose at the sweet spot/intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Watching Mark work his magic felt like such a beautiful example of ikigai in action.

On this solar eclipse Monday, as many of us are thinking about alignment in big ways, I'd love to hear about what ikigai looks like in your life. If you've never thought about that intersection before, today's your day. :)
